The Township of Fairfield was settled in 1669 and at that time was referred to as the “Horseneck Tract” because of its shape. The area remained essentially agrarian in nature for the better part of the next two centuries due to the excellent quality of the soil and its topography. During recent history, the Township has attained a compatible blend of residential and light industrial development. Fairfield Township was established in 1964.
CHARACTERISTICS:
It is a convenient location near Route 46 and Interstate 80. Besides the concentration of business and industry, residential neighborhoods remain attractively suburban in character.
